"I believe there is always a way to connect with each unique individual."
– Julie Snelgrove

Counselling can feel like a big step — sometimes even a daunting one.

My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable and safe as possible, so you can get the most out of your sessions and begin to see real change in your life.

Why People Seek Counselling

You might be considering counselling because you are:
  • Feeling anxious, low, or overwhelmed
  • Struggling with a specific life event such as loss, relationship challenges, or work stress
  • Finding it difficult to talk to family or friends about your feelings
  • Unsure of why you feel unhappy or unsettled, but knowing something needs to change
While friends and family can be supportive, it’s not always easy to confide in those closest to you. Counselling gives you a safe, confidential space to explore what’s on your mind — free from judgement or outside influence.

How Counselling Can Help

The counselling I offer is a gentle, non-judgmental space to:
  • Untangle difficulties and make sense of your experiences
  • Gain clarity about what’s troubling you
  • Discover your own answers, in your own time
  • Feel empowered to make choices that are right for you
We work together at your pace, with respect for your individuality, your values, and your beliefs. I believe everyone has the inner resources to grow and create a more fulfilling, satisfying life — sometimes we just need the right space to uncover them.

FAQ's

Q: Do I need counselling?
Counselling can be valuable for anyone who wants to talk honestly with someone independent about what’s really on their mind — especially if it feels hard to speak to friends or family.
Q: What if I cannot afford counselling?
I have a limited number of reduced-fee spaces for those who are unwaged, on a low income, or students. If these are full, I can place you on my waiting list.
Q: How soon can I start?
Usually within one to three weeks, depending on availability. I’ll do my best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.
Q: How many sessions will I need?
This varies for each person. Some choose short-term counselling for a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term support. The choice is always yours, with no pressure to have more sessions than you want.
Q: Will counselling be confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is protected under my ethical and professional code of practice, which I will explain in our first session.
Q: How often will we meet?
Most clients attend once a week, at the same time and day. I can be flexible to suit your needs where possible.

Q: Where will counselling take place?
I see clients in my private counselling room on the edge of Frome, Somerset. I also offer secure online and telephone sessions.
Q: Do you offer evenings and weekends?
I have some evening availability and very limited weekend slots. Most appointments are on Mondays and Tuesdays (daytime and evening), with a few after 4pm on other days.
